If you want to amaze yourself, take a few minutes and count the rivets on your tin boat. I was inspecting mine and went ahead and counted them. The hull is a '87 Lowe 14V Superior and it's held together with 1566 of them suckers:
Stem 120
Keels (5) 302
Rub Rails (2) 68
Gunwale (2) 54
Strake lands 412
Transom 168
Seat Benches (4) 126
Bottom Crossmembers (8) 316

Hint: Count half and multiply by 2

this is why i went with a welded hull g3 :LOL2:
I hear ya and I was thinking about a new welded . . . . but then this old hull only weighs 200 lbs and does 22mph on 15HP and goes 90 miles on 12 gallons of fuel. Maybe there is a reason they riveted them or maybe they just don't make 'em like they used to?
