Hey guys. About 6 hours ago i purchased my first aluminum, a 1973 14' Lund, with a 1988 15HP Johnson, with electric start.
I have a few questions. First, what oil should i use? Would it be available at a BRP dealer? What ratio should i run? And should i pump the ball so its hard? Or just ____ times? Oh, and would i be fine trolling with the Johnson, or should i use my fishing time to be hooking up my Minn Kota? Thanks.
Thanks guys, I'm super excited about this. Cant wait to test it out this weekend!

EDIT: Also, There is a wood board running down one side of my trailer, but i have seen it on others too. What is this for?

Not mine, but similar idea. Their is a small 'board' running from front to back, just on the right side. Like it is under the rollers.

Fuel mix is 50:1. Use any TCW3 certified outboard oil available at most stores, Walmart, etc.
That outboard motor should troll just fine. When starting, just pump the ball until
its hard. Good luck.

You're lying unless we see pictures. :LOL2: :LOL2: :LOL2:

No idea what you're describing without pics. Maybe a bunker board with the other side missing???

Looks a in a lot worse condition in the pics. It is in nice shape for being a '73. Anyway, see the board on the right hand side of the trailer?

Thanks for the replays guys!

To me....it looks like a step to stand on when you can't reach or want to climb in. Can't think of any other reason that would be there.

+2

there is another guy on here that did the same thing in order to help launch or retrieve his boat so he doesn't fall off the frame rails, he used running boards from an old truck on his.

I have seen similiar trailer - board set-ups around here. Mainly used for low water launch and retrieval.

Ok. Also, what 'angel' should i have my motor on? Sorry, can't remember the correct tone. All the way down? Sorry, I'm new to this stuff.

But thanks for all the replays!
