Painting the Floor ?

Im going to be installing a deck, and putting a sealed flooring system on my boat. So my question is, is it worth my time to paint the entire bottom of my boat even if it will be covered by my flooring system that will (in theory) be completely sealed off.

I did only because it was an older boat and why not seal the metal surface while you have the opportunity.

On a similar note, I asked my GF why she does such a meticulous paint job on the inside of her closets when the doors are almost always closed? :?:

It's not necessary if the entire thing will be covered. It seems like it would be a waist of money to me.
