Gettin ready to purchase the Minn kota powerdrive V2....need to know if I am choosing the correct shaft length.

A website recommends this...

Bow to Waterline Shaft Length
0-10 inches 30 inches
11-16 inches 36 inches
17-22 inches 42 inches
23-30 inches 50 inches
31-34 inches 54 inches

I measured bow plate to top of water with 2 people in my 12' boat. (I dont plan on having anymore people) A heavier person up front was 19" and the lighter measured 22". This gave me a range with two people in the boat. Seems like the 42" shaft would suit. I shouldve measured bow to waterline when I was by myself....Im thinking I may want the 50" as bow would rise when I am alone.

Would you follow this chart? Or go with the next length up?

The shorter of the two should be fine. If it's for the boat in your sig., then you want the shorter one.

Given your measurement, 42" would seem like plenty. Has enough to run the motor deep enough plus have some length on top to make stowing easier.
