I bought this 14 ft jon boat last year. This is the first time I've changed a rotten wooden board, and need advice. What kind of wood should I use, do I use one or two pieces of wood, will home depot cut me a piece?, etc?

Also, I have been toying with the idea of building a second deck in the back of the boat like the one in the front, so that the back seat will be raised like the front seat. I doubt I will do this...not sure how much room there is for that and I am not sure how bad it will affect the balance of the boat considering its just a jon. But I just wanted to get ideas and thoughts. Thanks!

Also...what are thoughts on installing wood boards between the ribs so that it is easier to walk?

2 layers of exterior plywood glued together to match the thickness of the original should do. Having the old transom as a templet is a big plus. Having a flat floor is nice, you can lay some plywood on the ribs. Remember never use Pressure Treated wood on an aluminum boat.
What part of Illinois are you in?
