I'm on vacation and visited this ferry across the Rio Grande river. It is hand operated by 6 small men. It's currently out of service because the river is flowing too swiftly. Apparently it is the last of its kind.
A true tinny!

We have a few of those up in Atlantic Canada in some country areas...lots of waterways up there, so they were pretty common back in the day and are still being used some.
