I haven't been able to find the proper method to measure the steering cable for my boat. With the new configuration, I lost 1' of cable length (the old cable won't fit properly).
I thought I was supposed to measure from where the cable meets the outboard (not including the rod), from the transom to the console, then the gunnel to the center hole for the steering, rounding up to the next foot if over.
My measurement came to 100", 8'4" ---> 9'. I'm going to measure it again to confirm. Am I doing this correctly?
Thanks

Well, I contacted the local teleflex dealer to get a quote on installation. The quote was about $120 + parts. The person I spoke to was quite helpful actually, explained it's really not that difficult a procedure if I took my time, etc.
We shall see.
