I thought you tin boat people might be interested in a gadget I ran across back in duck season while shopping for boat blind stuff. This, https://www.mackspw.com/ItemSearch--search-rivnut--srcin-1 , handy tool is great for attaching stuff to a tin boat, instead of using screws, this installs permanent ¼-20 threads in the boat. After installing the rivnut stuff can be bolted on and removed without wearing out the hole with a screw. The link posted is for a inexpensive tool, there are more expensive tools available that will install all sizes of rivnuts. I really like mine, thought some of you might be interested.
Here is another link, https://www.huck.com/marsoncorp/threadedInserttools.htm

Those are pretty handy little things. If you are going into angle or something where you can get to both sides, you can use a punch with a hex die in it, and then use hex rivnuts. They will be less prone to slipping while tightening your bolt. But, the ribbed ones usually hold fairly well.

You can do much better on the rivnut refills than the duck hunting link. They aren't near that expensive at some other online places.
