After the 3rd or 12th rebuild experience, I've decided to put the flush mount pedestal bases in my boat. I've just replaced all the foam under the aluminum floor and put right at 200 rivits in mounting the floor and sides back in so don't wanna tear it back up! The thickness of the aluminum is not even close to being enough to support the seat base with any amount of force that isn't straight down. My idea is, mount the bases to a 14x14 piece of diamond plate and then rivet it to the aluminum flooring rib to rib with the center hole and all bolt holes cut to allow flush mounting. Ya all think this will be sturdy enough? Any other ideas that will keep the base as low profile as possible?

I think a lot of it will depend on the thickness of the plate you use but assuming it's thick enough and you rivet it to the ribs it should hold well.
