I'm going to be putting a new engine on my 1436 and was wondering in the ballpark of what the top speed would be with a 15 and a 20

Boat has a 1/2 ply wood floor between the front and rear seat, a battery, prob 40 to 80 in other stuff and 150 for me and 6 gallons of fuel

Thanks

It's kind of more about how the hull will plane than weight.

Weight is important in how fast (or even if) you get on plane, but then the majority of the hull is out of the water.

Once out, it's about how much thrust your outboard can give.

I would think your 15-20 hp outboard should be able to get that weight/hull combo on plane.

The 20-ish mph is probably pretty close....

I had a 18 it did 22 but didn't like to plane perfect, but it had a crappy hydrofoil

Yall think 20 out of the 15 is not out of the relm of possibility

I had a new 14' Lund deep V with new 15 hp Merc in 2007 and it did the same as my 1980's Gergor with '84 Evinrude 2 stroke...20-21 mph.
