Does anyone use them?

Also, I'm curious if a set of poor man's mooring whips could be made with PVC pipe (perhaps putting a smaller diameter PVC pipe inside of a larger one, to give some added rigidity), instead of having to buy the more expensive fiberglass poles.

That's kinda what I was thinking....at least as far as regular white PVC pipe.

But I wonder about gray PVC, I know that type of PVC is pretty flexible, I made a crude bow from that stuff when I was a kid, using a piece of 1/2" about 4 foot long, and then a string. Actually tested it on a scale at an archery shop, and it had a 20 lb draw.

It never cracked, and I did a lot of shooting with it (and for being so crudely made, it was pretty accurate).

And as the gray PVC is sunlight-resistant, being constantly exposed to the elements of sun, heat, cold, and salt water at the dock, it's far less likely to become UV-bleached and get brittle like white PVC.
