I was cleaning the old Gluvit off the bottom of my boat last night and found the three of the ribs are cracked--one all the way through. Does anyone know how to fix this? Can they be stop drilled? Can I sister a piece of aluminum across the crack? My boat is a 1980s 17' Alumacraft Backtroller. I bought it used last fall an am refurbishing it for fishing and duck hunting. Sure appreciate any ideas you guys have. Thanks.

I had the same issue on one of my boats. I took it to a fabrication shop and had the cracks welded. Good as new.

I wouldn't trust any other fixes besides a good weld for cracked ribs.
