Hello. I finally got the leaks fixed and was going to go to the lake today but we are supposed to get 2-2-1/2" of rain today. Anyway, can I mount a 7" pedestal directly to the bench or should there be some reinforcement. Thanks.

Sure, just put some big fender washers and lock washers on before the nut. I went a little over board with mine and used some flat stock aluminum as a back up plate. I have always used washers before and never had a problem.

Depends on the thickness and width of the bench, the length of the pedestal, and the size of the butt sitting in the seat

If you have easy access to the bottom of the seat, its best to put some sort of backer plate in there - the bigger the better.

If you don't have easy access .... well, just do your best and see what happens :p
