not exactly a tinboat, but it is a jon boat, sort of!

just curious. anyone else on here have the opportunity to run an LCM, or owns one for his business?
I ran one of these in the north atlantic, in some pretty rough water. It was neat to see the bow rise on the waves and then crash back down, sending a lot of spray back over the boat. sounded like the darn thing was going to fall apart, and then there was the vibration from the screws coming out of the water. these also had the bow ramps welded shut, because of the rough seas that we used them in.
you can "walk" them sideways, because of the twin screws. that's kind of different.
at 50' long they wouldn't be too easy to tow back and forth to the local lake, but I thought they were "FUN" to run in the big pond.
I got paid $0.17 per hr. to run one of these, and hoped that I wouldn't hit one of the nuclear submarines that we occasionally had to go between to unload cargo. #-o

picture worth a thousand words...

LCM-6 (from the length, I am guessing that's what you are talking about)
the site only allows 800 pixel wide images (i don't know why, people have been using monitors with greater than 800x600 resolution since before the internet), so you'll have to click here to see it

LCM-8 (still in service)

AHH! brings back old memories. that's what i'm talking about. we also had an enclosed version of it, that we used to transport the blue and gold crews, to and from the subs.
I didn't have any pics to post. thanks!

I'm sure the guys on here could figure it out.
OHH! and all the decking mods!
and look at all your buddies you could take fishing!
you can even beach it, drop the ramp, and drive your truck into it. don't even have to unload the truck.
6-8' waves, not a problem.
even though It's not a fishing boat, it's a different type of jon boat, with a different purpose. some of the people on here may not know that these even exist.

hey guys: thanks for posting some of this stuff.

I like that 36" one that was posted on craigslist. figured that someone modified these to suit their purpose.
with some work, probablly could also make a houseboat out of them.
I was surprised to see that this has an aluminum hull. guess this would qualify as a tinboat!
