I have a small, 12ft, rivoted alum boat with a couple minor leaks. When I say minor, the boat was in the water over Memorial weekend from friday morning until monday afternoon and there was less than a 1/2in water in bottom. I recently did a remod on the boat, rebucking all rivots, sealing them with 3M and then painting inside and out after verifying no leaks over a couple months of use (didnt know about Gluvit or Coat-it). However, a couple rivots have begun leaking. So here is my dilema. I have a can of Coat-it that I got from a friend but not certain if I have to strip and coat entire hull. Is it possible to just strip a small area around the leaking rivots and spot patch? Since the leakers are all along the centerline of the floor would it be better to just strip an 8-10in section along the centerline on the inside and coat the entire section?
Thanks for any advise
