I bought an older v-hull that has no drain in the bilge. I need to install one. Is there some kit available to add one? Has anyone ever done this?

Thanks

Scott

I did one on my 12 ft that's a trailer queen.. I used a bilge pump through hull bulkhead and a 5/8" plug. Measure twice, drill once.

There are several drain plug kit available here are couple of pictures of what I think you are looking for. Heres a link also

I am in the same boat, well um, sorry I had to say that... Anyway, I don't have a drain plug either and I asked a local marina if they could add one and they thought the metal might be too thin given the age, to weld a pipe in. My question is, would those plugs you have there work even if the metal was too thin for a pipe?

With either of the plug kits I would use some kind of backing plate. Drill the proper size hole and bolt/screw the kit to the outside of the boat with the backing plate on the inside. Be sure to seal everything with some 5200 or other good sealant.
