Just bought a 16 foot Lund fishing boat and it needs alot of work. It has sat outside since 1982 and has been painted with a brush several times, but the good news is mosy of the paint is coming off.
What type of paint remover can I use to strip it down. When it comes to painting it I have to use a self etching primer is this correct. Can I use regular paint such as rust oleum or does it need to marine paint? I have painted glass boats before but never aluminum so any help I can get will be apreicated. I am in the process of gathering everything up before I start and then will have at it. Thanks Ivan

as long as you dont start with bare aluminum theres no need for self etching primer. i painted mine a while back and just took 220 and sanded down the scratches and roughed uo the paint a little. i used rustoleum and it worked fine. before
