Have a 25hp Mercury short shaft , Big Foot outboard 4 stroke on back of boat. When i throttle up, boat does not go faster. Should i increase motor shaft longer into water. Maybe purchase a 6" inch spacer? not sure how long the motor shaft should be with this type of boat transom.

What is the transom measurement? 15- 16 inches or 20 or more? If you have a short shaft on a 20 in transom boat it will not perform properly. If it is 15 in transom I'd look at the prop.. I'd look to see if the pin or key is sheared....

I have an 84 14 foot Smoker Craft and love it. I have not put an out board on it yet but hope to next year. Great boat.
