Hello,

I have an old Starcraft 16' with about a 60" beam on it. I would like to get some bows for a boat cover. What size should I get? I know they can be cut to fit but would starting with a 72" bow work or should I go for the 96" bow? Fiberglass or natural wood?

I want to stay away from the adjustible ones since I want to trailer with the cover and am afraid the adjustible bracket will tear the cover at some point.

Thanks for the help.

Here is my boat: https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=24945

On this subject, what are the bows made of? Can I make them myself?

Thanks

some people have had luck with boughs made of flexible PVC

dunno if that would be strong enough for on the road use though. maybe the same approximate design but with fiberglass tubes for the supports instead

you should be able to use regular pvc pipe, it should flex enough, and the pressure created from flexing it will keep it firmly in place, I plan to do this on my boat as soon as I source a cover.
