is that 600# just gear weight (if so what on earth are you bringing?)? keep in mind there aren't any passengers in the boat while you're towing it
 
Also, you can put as much gear as possible in your trunk/bed.

Why not check the pages of boat manufactures to get an idea?

Here is a 1852 mod V that comes in at 475lbs.

Ooops . . . good point . . . so now I can go even longer and wider on the hull, but I visit areas that have a 60hp limit so I'll stay with that engine size.
