I'm getting ready to paint my boat. The previous paint was scratched in some places, but otherwise was in good shape.

I sanded the entire boat, wiped it down with denatured alcohol, and primed the bare spots with zinc chromate. Then I primed the entire boat with two coats of Interlux Prime-Kote.

The Prime-Kote has had almost two weeks to dry and the weather's been hot. Today I sanded with 220 grit in preparation to apply the first coat of Brightsides.

What I noticed during sanding is that I had to totally avoid any rivets because even the slightest pressure would take it down to bare metal.

Should I be concerned :?: :?: Is this primer too soft or not totally dry? Did anyone else have this problem?

Also, what do I do about the rivets with exposed metal? Do I have to prime them again or can I get away with just applying the top coat?

Thanks for the help!
