So I've been working on getting pricing on the stock I'll be needing for my build. So far I've come up with the following:

6063 Angle 1 1/2" x1 1/2" x 3/16" (deck/floor bracing)
6063 Tube 1 1/2" x1 1/2" x 3/16" (deck/floor bracing)
5052 Sheet .063" (gunwall coverings) and .125" (decking and floor)

I think the above is the right sizes for strength, based on some research. Where I'm getting confused is the difference between aluminum sheet and plate. Whats the difference, if anything? Should I be choosing one over the other?

Sheet

Plate

Fastenal also has sheet and plate listed seperatley.

Also curious if my angle and tube size is appropriate. Thanks!!!

3/16 is overkill for the tubing IMO.

Pretty sure I used 6061 and .125 angle/tube. Make sure to check out my build and avoid the same mistake I ran into with the radius angle.

Sheet is any thickness under 1/8 inch and plate is over 1/8 inch. Thats the difference. 6061 is a better choice. That is what I used on my boat. 1/8 inch wall thickness is what all of my tubing is and the angle too. Should have went with 1/8inch on the floor but that was going to be another 500 bucks so I went thinner and regret it sometimes. Maybe a winter project on upgrading it.

Thanks guys.

And Brine, your build thread is the reason I'm going with 6063 over 6061.

Good luck Terp. ~ wear hearing protection!
