Anyone know much about Dorsett Aluminum boats? Everything I've read talks about Fiberglass hulls from them. I'm **assuming** this was made in 1972, but that's just a guess!!

Should I do anything to the hull to protect it?

Thanks!

Nope, don't know them but even if I did, I'd tell you the same thing....

Do a leak test first. What do you want to protect the hull from?

The leak test will be done after I finish replacing the transom!

Protect the hull from the elements, I guess... I'm used to playing with steel. If you leave it raw for too long you have a pile of red dust. I know the white is the aluminum "rusting", should I worry about it?

The white is either corrosion or oxidation. Corrosion is bad and will weaken the aluminum via pitting etc.... Oxidation is aluminum's natural protective barrier that forms to prevent corrosion. When you say "rusting"... take some pics of what you're seeing, and it might lend insight as to what you have going on. The oxidation will simply haze/dull newly aluminum, but won't create any "rusting". The corrosion usually happens when 2 different types of metal are in contact with one another.
