Hi Everyone, picked up my first boat yesterday.
First time poster, have been scouring the site, looking at builds, recommendations and getting ideas.
The boat is a 14' 1980 Polar Kraft. It is a 1444, and seems like it's pretty deep compared with a lot of other jons. Motor is a 1978 Evinrude 9.9 with the 15hp carburetor on it. So I guess it's a 15hp Evinrude and it runs pretty well. Trailer is a trailer, but it has transom saver, so that's nice. Really looking forward to getting advice from everyone. Gonna be using the boat for fishing and duck hunting and can't wait to be on the water.
Here's what I need or want to do with it:
1. Sand and paint the trailer (It's quite rusty in spots)
2. Get trolling motor, fish finder, running lights
3. Get seats and posts.
4. Re-deck the front with access hatch
5. Install a floor in the middle
6. Catch Fish and Shoot Birds!
If anyone has comments or experience with the above boat/motor, let me know thanks for all the good advice Tinboats!
