Who uses gunnel mounted rod holders? Gimme the good, the bad and the UGLY. Once I'm done with the SeaArk, I'm going to keep the bare ribs exposed and then mount the holders to the ribs. I just don't know how wide those ribs are. I need some strong holders for inshore saltwater rods that are 4/0 and 5/0 and about 7' long. Ideally something with a locking feature. I've seen the type with the bungee cords online.

What cha using ?

Hi Badbagger. I'm right down the road in Tally. Here's a pic of some DIY PVC tod holders I made out of some 1 1/4" PVC pipe and fittings. They're just dry fitted together, so I can disassemble them and add/subtract/repair it at any time. The whole ting is just mounted to the aluminum rubrail with a small stainless steel screw in each holder. It works great and only cost about $10.
