Anybody here use this? Since I don't have the ability to weld aluminum, I wonder how well this would work.

Never tried this specific product, but indeed, aluminum can be welded, or even brazed, with a regular torch.

To weld, you'll need to switch from acetylene to hydrogen, as hydrogen burns a little cooler, which is more suited for aluminum with its 1217 F melting point. You'll also need the appropriate aluminum filler rod (check compatibility of base metal and filler rod to be sure)

It's very similar to gas welding steel with oxyacetylene, but it must be remembered that aluminum does not change color before melting, the puddle becomes shiny, and you have to carefully control the size of the puddle to avoid melting the whole thing. In fact, this is how they first welded aluminum before the development of TIG and MIG welding.

Aluminum can also be brazed, similar to brazing steel. You'll need Allstate type 31 flux for the bare aluminum rods, and for the base metal. Flux the rod by heating and dipping in the flux. You'll also need to change your welding glasses to a shade that is specifically made for brazing aluminum, it's designed to block glare created by this process, so you can see easier.

Would this be strong enough for putting deck plate down and fixing leaking rivets?

I think this would be a better product.
