I have seen other threads where people have stripped their boats and discovered that the foam in their boats was completely waterlogged. I was outside just now reaching underneath my bench seats feeling the foam. It is a firm rough feeling foam, and when I press my fingers in it they come away wet. It makes me wonder how much water might be trapped inside. How could this be? I used to think that blocks of styrofoam was used in boats, but this is no styrofoam. If boat manufacturers used foam that would waterlog, then it seems like that would defeat the purpose. Does it have something to do with the age of the boat, or the age of the foam. This wasn't something I had planned on dealing with. How many of you have gone to the trouble of removing old foam for this very reason?
