I'm looking at this unknown brand, welded, western-style boat. Clearly, it's been patched by an amateur and in a very sensitive spot at that (the transom). I'm inclined to walk (or maybe run) away from this one, but as the asking is $200 my penchant for thrift is second guessing my gut on this one.

What do you think?

Idk how the market is by you, but that would be scrap here. In my opinion you can find something in better shape for the money. The last 2 12ft aluminums I bought I got for under $175 each, in much better shape.
 
I'd boogie on out of there.

I bought a solid welded 14' Gregor with two outboards and a trailer for $500. Of course the tires were toast but after much love, it's our go to fresh water boat!
