Can anyone post some pictures of a jon boat mod where you used piano hinges for the storage compartment lids? I'd like to see how it turned out.

I am debating whether i place my hinges directly to the plywood, then carpet over............................... or if I carpet the boat, then apply the piano hinges over the carpet.........

There are several in the mods links. I used them too, but I didn't use carpet. Link to my build is in my signature if you want to see how they were installed. I think bassboy1 has put up several carpet/piano hinge mods.

i say carpet first then hinges. 1 tip drill holes between the factory ones get bigger, longer screws and use every other hole on each side. so one side use factory holes and the other your drilled.

crankbait09 » Today, 12:19"]thank you....the hinges i will be getting actually come undrilled. I need to drill holes where i want them...i like that.

get a punch before you drill so your bit wont run. the reason for 2 sets of holes and off setting the screws is so your screw heads have room.

i used 2"deck screws,so far so good.really good holding power and no rust.also much cheaper than stainless

Jonboat Jerry » 10 Oct 2011, 11:02"] I used pop rivets without carpet. I did not want anything to hold salt water plus it is easier to clean and dries faster.
