just traded an old canoe for this 1962 lonestar on a trailer. owned a few polar krafts when i was a kid but i have 0 experience with a boat this old. Just wondering if anyone could provide more info on the brand reputation and what i should expect as i find a motor for it and get it seaworthy.

I can understand the concerns about the age. I will reassure you though, that an aluminum boat that is properly constructed and taken care of will last a very, very long time. Your boat looks like a solid one.

Like was previously stated, check it for leaks and make sure the transom is sturdy. Replace any rusted hardware with stainless or aluminum. As long as you don't go jumping beaver dams or stump jumping, that boat should hold up well. Lonestars are a fairly well known manufacturer from the time. There are a few others on here. I kinda wish my Arkansas Traveler had seats like yours. Good luck with the build!

An Oldie, but a Goodie! Buck the rivets, throw on a motor and GO! I remember some Lone Star F/G Runabouts when I was a kid (long time ago) They had big fins like a Cadillac.

so, this boat made its way from TN to OH and now I own it.

Came with an early 60's Johnson QD motor.

Plan is to rehab the trailer, maybe bottom coat below the waterline and repaint the original blue trim scheme.
Motor needs an impeller so I'm going to service the lower unit as well.
It floated and was used last summer, so no worries there.

This is the first thing I've ever owned that floated.

edit:
near as I can tell this is a 14 foot "corsair" model. Looks like a corvette, but it's 14 foot. Not a commander because of straight across transom.

at least that's what I could figure out usig the fiberglassics brochure photos.

well, that escalated quickly.

gave the old johnson some attention

decided I wanted to do boat things, so bought a big tin boat.

needs interior, but the hull and motor are solid. I gave 1500 for it.

Lone Star goes back to Doug.

Very good boats. I have a 14' Lone Star commander with an 18hp Johnson on it. Works great. I have had it coming on 40 years now with no problems. Sturdy boat. Have fun.
