Just bought my first boat! Im 26 originally from Oregon and live in Florida now.
familiar with boating and fishing, grew up around it... probably should have paid more attention to what my dad was doing.

12 ft aluminum gamefisher (1988 i think) and galvanized trailer $350
6 hp suzuki outboard $250 (saw it run in a barrel)

The guy also threw in a 3gal fuel tank and hose

Some things i have done so far
- Put a hitch on my Jeep Liberty and towing wiring harness
- Trailer hardware and rollers replaced
- Took care of all tags and registration
- Got some safety gear. oars, lifejackets, whistles, throwables.

Going to put it in the water tomorrow for a test run and ill take some pictures

Welcome aboard BC. Congrats on the new toy. Where in FL did you move? I'm in Tallahassee. Funny, I have a friend that's about to move from FL to OR. Small world. Good luck on the wet test.

Also, is there kind of an emergency kit I should be amassing? sparkplugs i'm guessing, maybe a few tools, anything else you guys can think of would help.

Also I know quite a few rivets on the bottom have some kind of sealant on them, when I picked up the boat, it had just rained the night before and had about 4 inches of water in it and the bottom was dry so kind of a reverse wet test.

Here she is

Looks like a good starter hull.

Advice, imagine the dumb bad things that can happen and thing about contingencies for them. You have oars for proulsion, get (or make) a scoop a water scoop to bail it out if something dumb happens. Make sure you have 2 plugs for the hull. A waterproof ziplock bag in a drawstring bag (that can be tied off) is great for storing your wallet and phone if you get caught in a downpour.

On your trailer I will highly recommend you reconfigure the bow eye setup. You really want a roller above your bow eye to keep the hull from telescoping into the back your Liberty if you get rear ended.

The most important thing is have fun, don't overextend yourself and be aware of your surroundings.

Oh that was an old pic before i reconfigured it, it was at its max limit and slightly bent down so i had a pretty scetchy operation with a car jack and 2x4 to bend it back to level.

Also this may need immediate advise, my garage reaks of gas... i have moved the tank outside for now until i can resolve the issue. there is a vent on the filler cap (which i had closed because i didnt want it to smell like gas) and the hose that leads to the motor leaking gas im guessing due to the pressure change. so for storing inside should i close the vent and remove the lines?
