Looking to put aluminum floor in my boat. What thickness should I use to install bases for pin mount seat pedastels for fishing.

The flooring should be as light as possible but supported by a grid of 1/8" angle frames. I have .080" thick floor and the largest span between frames is 16" with no noticeable flex. You will want you seat posts supported directly to the ribs via the framework or you'll notice the flex when you sit on your seat.

+1 to what Ranchero said. If you are trying to support the weight/force of a seat with a person in it, you definitely need to have some structural bracing right where the mount goes, as any aluminum thinner than 1/4" isn't going to support it, and 1/4" is waaay too heavy for flooring in a johnboat.

So the base needs to be positioned where the pin on pedestal goes in right beside a rib on the boat floor?

My SeaArk has a .125 floor. The base is welded up on the bow and also on a seat also .125. However, I added a .375 backing plate about 2" bigger all around. ZERO wobble or flex.

Bagger out...

Preferably so. The addition of a backer plate like bagger suggested may also be a good idea.

I have a 16 ft alumacraft that came with an aluminum floor. I find it too thin to hold screws for rod holders or much of anything else. I am quite unimpressed with the aluminum floors and wish I had wood as in other boats I have owned.
