Ok so I bought a 25hp evinrude outboard and I don't know exactly what model it's is. I think it's a 1969 sportster but I don't know for sure. The serial number on it is 25902B E01878. The reason I'm trying to find out what model it is is because I don't think the water pump is working. I ran it in a bucket but the water wasn't very high and I saw on another page that it has to be "primed" by being deeper into water. Also I don't know where the water inlet is even at so if anyone could help me out that would be great

It's on top of the Block, over the pistons.
3 Cap Screws hold it down. It's triangular shaped.
Be careful not to bust something when you pry it up.

You can start the motor, with the T-stat Cover off, and see water shoot straight up in the air.
Fix the T-stat so it opens, but never closes.

However if you don't get water out the top, you don't have a deep enough bucket or the Pump is not working.

PS: Fill out your personal info so we'd know where your located. There might be somebody close to you.
