So I jumped in an bought a boat on a whim (I had actually been looking for months, but bough this one "spur of the moment"), and I'm in the process of getting it ready to do some fishing here in Virginia.
Its listed as a 1959 "rex" on the title. 15' long with a 25hp 1995 Mercury/Tracker 2 stroke.

Some things I'm concerned about:
-My motor is a long shaft, and its a bit longer that I'd like below the boat.
-The motor needs a new impeller (ordered a kit today). Its barely trickling out the top
-The Transom ply was starting to separate on top so I glued and clamped it.

So I'm waiting for impeller to get it up and going. It starts easily but I don't want to run it for more than a few seconds until I get the cooling system working better.

I also bought a CREE headlight, some wiring, and some LED's and controllers. I ordered green and UV. Also bought some folding seats, and 7" pedestals (reallly rethinking those, might just bolt the seat swivel directly to the seats.

I'm sure I'll be posting lots of questions as I really want to get the motor purring nicely.

Didn't have a truck so I'll be using my old BMW to drag her around :)

Here are some pics:

I have the tow car up and ready! Just put the hitch on and got the lights wired up.

The small hitch is rated at 2000 lbs so I sure hope she holds.

170k on the original clutch on this car. Should get some looks on the way to the lake :LOL2:
Thanks for the reply SDG

Used to pull my 14fter with the toyota corolla, worked fine. Small aluminum boats are lightweight and mine was also a 5 speed manual.

Congrats on your boat!
From the looks of the exterior, it appears to be a Lone Star. I could be wrong, though.
Have fun with it. 8)

Yep! I'm pretty sure it's a Lone Star Malibu, late '50's. It's been modified. The first thing I noticed was the side strip and rounded ends. Seems the passenger side has been taken out, along with some other things. You can google Lone Star boats and find several sights pertaining to it.

Also, you can look under the top rail, aft, left side and find the serial number stamped in the hull. That will tell you for sure what year, model, etc...

Have fun with it! :)
