So I want to put another seat post in the rear of my boat but don't want to drill the hole for the base until I know what's under there. I want to go to the right of the current base you see in the picture where the plastic plug is, is there anything aside from foam under there? Are those plugs just covering the hole where they sprayed the foam in?

Maybe a quick release mount like this would be better? The center mount probably won't be used unless I ever convert from electric only and need seat positions when not trolling.

I suspect you're right about the cap, and I doubt there is anything other than foam under the bench. That said, using toggles should provide plenty of support for the pedestal.

Not sure I understood why you were moving the seat position. For trolling?

The current seat base is in the middle an right in the way of steering, boats electric only so the only trolling motor is in the transom, plus it takes up too much room when I want to stand on the back deck...here's a little better picture.

Gotcha - Have you seen the seats that have the S-shaped pedestals that swivel? that may work for what you're wanting by using the same mount.
