I have a 6' piece of a piano hinge I need to cut to fit a project. Do I just whack it at the length I need? Not sure if I have to worry about the pin in the hinge coming out or something when I cut it.

if you really want to ensure the pin does not come out,
push the pin through a 1/4" and ding it closed on the end.
On the other end, pull the pin out 1/2" and cut it off then
push it back into the hinge and you can ding that end closed also.
But with just normal use, the pins don't come out. If they do,
just push it back in.

Thanks!!

I have it for my stern deck that I was suppose to put on 2 years ago. Not really much room for a deck back there with control cables, gas lines, etc. Might still end up putting one on though. I'm actually using the piano hinge to make a DIY compost tumbler.
