I have a 1978 AMF crestliner 16' has a 25hp johnson outboard.

I would Iike to convert it from the bench seats to a more simple floor plan like below.

Would all that plywood make the boat to heavy?

Suggestions?

This boat will remain a tiller for the rest of its life.... for this old of a boat I'm not wanting to hassle with steering cables and throttle controls.

I don't think weight as much as stability may be an issue.
How wide is yours in comparison to the Lund in the photo?
I would try to keep your seats in the centre as compared to 2 wide,IMHO though.
Cool boat BTW. :D

The bench's give the hull it's structural support. The boat you want to mimic has side boxes for support.
