I often used the search feature on this forum, but found it difficult at times to really dial in what I was looking for. It would display results, but often made it confusing for me to find the information I was seeking.

A alternative I have found (and now, exclusively use it as my go to "search the forums" tool) is to use a search parameter that can be used on most major search engines (i.e. Bing, Google).

Here is how to do it.

1. Bring up your favored search engine.
2. In the search box type the following: site:www.tinboats.net

:!: :!: :!:
NOTE: Make SURE there is NO SPACE between "site:" and the web address. I have found that if there is, you get less results. Don't know why, but it does.

3. In front or back of "site:www.tinboats.net" type in what you are looking for. Without the quotation marks.

Example: "What are the best rivets site:www.tinboats.net"

Now you just told the search engine to look for your search results just on Tinboats.net and no where else. It has really helped me A LOT in finding the information I am looking for and makes it a whole lot easier and faster.

That also works for file types too.

Let's say you want to look for PDFs:
