I'm putting the decking on the bow of my boat project and have realized whatever I use to fasten it down will be exposed. is there a good self tapping SS screw that is recommended? I can use rivets but I would rather not unless I hear it's fine to do so. buying SS bolts/nuts at the local hardware store will be very cost prohibitive, as they are pricey on the ss stuff.

any suggestions?

here's a pic of what I'm looking at

what is your plan for the plywood ?
screw down then carpet over the screws?
or, glue carpet to plywood then screw down ?

Rivets are considered semi-permanent. Meaning if you want to access something,
you must drill out each and every rivet.
Personally, I use the self tapping auto upholstery screws with the washer.
available in your Big Box Stores. Not stainless, but will last a few years before needing replacement.

I'd use (drive it screws ) there chrome looking. They look just like the ones johnny posted a pic of. I've had some in my trucks ladder rack for about two years. And there's no rust on them.
Drive it. Is the only name I no them by. Lowe's has then. In little rectangular plastic boxed.

Like stated the screw mentioned should work fine. I have a carpet covered floor held down with them/similar and have experienced no issues with them on bare feet.
