Well we had a few days off from designing boats, and decided to start building a few toys...er I mean boats.
This is a pirogue for my youngest Son Jacob :)

I've designed and built quite a few boats over the years, and I still love pirogues.
They're basically shrunk down dories, made for calm, I repeat, calm water.

As for the heat...
Mostly the sides this time of year, as the bottom is water cooled!

But yeah, we're gonna read Johnny's posts and learn to prep, prime &paint aluminum proper,
and probably put a 1/4" marine plywood liner in the bottom to keep Jacob's fanny from getting warm :).
 
I'd love to scratch build but don't have the time or tools. I'd only want welded. I can stick weld pretty good - but aluminum is a completely different animal Would love to learn though.

So - there's really no option for my predicament in the poll :(
