The internet has certainly increased awareness of all sorts of things.
 
My great uncle Mike was a painter for the Rail Road in NYC. He had a technique of painting steel doors with some kind of metal combs that made it look like wood. He would tell me about all the work he did in the the old Penn Station. I was fascinated by this as a child. He was a medic in WWII and was at the invasion of Normandy. My grand parents on that side of the family died young so to me he sort of filled that grandpa role. I miss him a lot.
