Trolling Motor Question - Cable Vs Electric

2 dumb questions..

On a cable steer trolling motor system, what is the length of cable from the pedal to motor?

Any way to extend the cables?

Only reason I ask, I don't want to get electric steering trolling motor however my boat setup I don't think a cable steer will work out that good.

About 4 or 5 feet. Not extendable.

If you want to be able to control the motor from a distance away, you'll need an electric steer model.

The cables are long enough to accommodate installation on the bass boats with the dock-sized front decks - I'm having a hard time picturing a layout where they wouldn't work other than a pontoon boat.
