I bought an old 14' jon boat yesterday with 3 fixed pedestals/seats. You know, the black permanent kind. Of course, the metal on seats and pedestal has some rust, and discoloration from being stored outside. I don't understand why people use these instead of the removable kind. I guess it's fine if you can keep your boat inside when not in use. Am I missing something, other than they're a little cheaper?

I put them in my crawdad when i did a conversion to it. I feel they are a lot more stable in a small boat than I skinny pole

if i bought some, it would be the fixed ones because you guessed it, they are much cheaper. allot of people would rather buy a cheapo then not have one at all if they cant really afford it. come on thats like saying why do you put 87 in your truck when 93 is obviously cleaner and better? because its cheaper. so yea its just a price thing.
