Rubber bumber for side of boat?

Has anyone thought about installing something like this around the sides of their boat?

The SS Smurf is starting to look like the SS Scuffed, from the boat dock.

Or is there a better option I don't know about?

I use the boat fenders and they do a good job of protecting my painted sides
