Hi guys, I am looking to buy a 1976 16' Lowe line center console I found on craigslist. I have attached the link below. Do you all think this is a good purchase? I have talked to the guy and he is willing to take $2200.00. Thanks.

I'd purchase it for $2200 assuming it all checks out as advertised.

Do you guys need titles for motors down there? In Minnesota, we don't register the motors.

OUCH - that's a BIG chunk of change for an OLD boat, OLD motor and OLD trailer! To me it isn't worth anywhere even close to $2K, regardless of condition ...

- or -
a couple of lookers came out and pointed out so many negative issues
that the guy decided to remove the listing to regroup.
perhaps to address the issues and relist it with a more accurate description ?

- or -
some new guy wanting a boat so badly that had a pocket full of cash is now
sitting at home with an old boat, old motor and old trailer in his driveway with
buyers remorse after filling it with water only to see it leaks like an old sock
and his sweet young wife giving him the cold shoulder ??

Keep looking, you will find just the right boat for you.
I found a 1959 14' Crestliner on a decent trailer for $400 (no motor)
and kicked it around in my "nautical hoarding mind" to justify the purchase.
By the time I had it all figured out as to paint the trailer and sell it for $200 which
would give me a nice 14 footer for $200 WITH title . . . it was gone.

so, be patient, but be ready to jump on a good deal when it pops up.
roll it around in your mind as what to look for . . . .
take your compression tester with you to check compression
take your spark detector with you to test for good spark/coil condition
ask the seller to show you the motor running in a bucket of water (or ears).
then, inspect the boat hull the best you can.
check the trailer for good springs, severe rust issues, wheels not wobbly (bad bearings)
stuff like that - BEFORE you lay down two grand on an unknown.

Good Luck !!
