Hello all,
I am new new to the whole boat rebuilding but I seems like fun! I am looking to get a 14ft deep-v with about a 20 hp engine. I would like to rebuild it as my winter job but I need some major help first. I have a couple questions.
1. How much would it cost to have someone weld an aluminum base for me?
2. Should I use aluminum or wood for my deck??
3. Should I have 2 12v batteries on board?
4. Is aluminum the right choice for a base??
5. What are so must have materials I have to have on my boat??
6. What should I use to get rid of the paint from the boat/trailer?

Thanks everyone so much!! I am very much new at this so I have NOO clue what to do. Hope all the experts on here can help!!!

Thanks,
Robert

Welcome to Tin Boats - where you from ?

all of your questions are usually asked after you have
your boat sitting in your driveway, and supplying us, the gallery,
with some photos so we can provide you with the most helpful feedback.
When you say - - - welding the base, are you referring to the floor or deck ?
or, a bracket of some kind. Aluminum welding is charged by the hour.
so, whatever your welder charges per hour and how long it takes, is your cost.
Sorry, we can not answer that question without knowing your location and seeing
some photos of exactly what you want to do. Only then, can we help you.

and yes, it can be a fun project filled to the gunnels with frustrations !!

I am from Detroit, MI. I usually fish in northern Michigan but sometimes I am able to get out on Lake St. Clair. I will be getting a boat in the next couple weeks and I was just trying to get a feel for costs and the materials I will need. The aluminum welding will be brackets so that I can build a deck for casting. I won't be 100% sure if I will need it welded or if I could screw it in myself. I am looking to have have an aluminum base that resembles something like this. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1442759406.664124.jpg
I will get pictures up when j get the boat. Hopefully this can happen ASAP
