This is my 1957 Miami okla blue star. It has a 1963 28hp evinrude speeditwin. I traded a single axle trailer for it on craigslist. The boat 14' long and 60" wide. Originally the bow was fully covered and the dash went all the way over to the other side. At one point in it's long life someone cut it up and made it a small side console. Also the steering on this boat is super interesting. It uses cables and block pullies. I believe it to be original as well. If anyone would like a diagram of the pullies I could probably draw something up. Anyways this boat was ready for the water the first day I got it. I changed the gear oil and checked the water pump everything was good. The motor started on the first try. Woot woot. Now I just had to make it look better and add some fishing equipment.

Reciently the motor started slipping out of gear at top speed. I did a little research on Google and discovered quickly that this is common with old evinrudes. The clutch dog in the gear case was worn and not engaging properly when put in gear. Lucky it was a free fix. I just had to flip the clutch dog around and use the reverse side to go fwd. WATCH OUT there is a spring and two ball bearings under the clutch dog. They will shoot out when you remove the clutch.
