My new front deck is just high enough to make this old body strain getting up and down, especially with a fish on.

I used an old battery case (to keep the water contained), and built a plywood frame around it.

Some 3/4 plywood for the step and Voila! an improvement.

My rig has an extra battery box. It big enough to fit a small anchor and the spare prop. Is that diamond plate aluminum or some kind of rubber. It looks just right!

It is a Harbor Freight rubber step. They come one foot square and also some long skinny pieces. It has self stick glue on the back. Good traction.

That's a good deal.

I've been thinking of adding a step to the bow deck on my 1860 that could hold a 12/15 gal fuel tank and 2 batteries for a 24 v bow mount trolling motor I also want to add. Nice work on your step.

If you are going to have both fuel and batteries in the same closed space, I'd be certain that it was very well ventilated.

..For sure, I'm planning to use a below deck type tank w a remote vent along w vents on the box.

wish i would have thought of that when i had my boat. i used to step on on the plastic battery box all the time, each time i thought i am going to look like and idiot if this thing breaks and i fall at the ramp.

That was what I was afraid of, and why I built the plywood outer frame and top-step.
