I couldnt find a area for introductions so I'll do it here and this is my first post so direct me if I'm in the wrong category.I'm a junior in highschool and always wanted a boat so when my parents found out my neighbor was selling a package deal my mom bought it for me for a b-day present for $200 I got a 1963 Monark , a trailer, and a 1964 6hp mercury which was the original package he bought it as. Over the past month it has had a total makeover for the upcoming fishing season. Only issue is the motor was going to cost to much to get running so I sold it for $150 and gave the money to my parents so we only have $50 into for a boat and trailer. After that I used my income tax to buy a Minn Kota endura maxx 55 for primary propulsion. A few cans of paint thinner and alot of rattle cans I say I did pretty good. I'll add before and after pictures. Any pro tips for boating or general is appreciated.View attachment 1View attachment 2View attachment 3

wow nice job!

one thing I would suggest is dont overlook the trailer, take the wheel bearings apart and inspect and clean them up, replace any worn parts if needed, and look those tires over carefully.

And give the rest of the trailer a good once over.

You dont want any problems there...

I agree, first thing I did with my boat was make sure it was safe to haul.

It should be OK first few trips tires do need to be replaced but they can wait longest drive to lake is 10 mins and I greased the bearings already with a gun since it had the little pieces to stick the gun onto.

There are lots of little pieces on boats. Ha Ha.. Might as well learn their names as you go. Good luck with your new craft.

Those particular "the little pieces to stick the gun onto." are probably called Zerk grease fittings.
