First post. Been here a while but I lurk. I am more active on other forums, but I have a question.

I stareted a rebuilt of my 1548 Duracraft recently. I am going from two small storage compartments on the front deck to one compartment.

I am 6'4, and around 230. I am wondering what type of bracing i should have for this compartment.

Here are some pictures to give you an idea of what Im asking about

For a large hatch like that I would probably go with 5/8 ply instead of 1/2. that should be plenty, it might flex a small amount but it is lighter than 3/4 and weight savings is more important to me than a little flexing. If you use 1/2 inch then you may need to add some batons to the bottom of the ply to stiffen it some.

I used 1/2 marine plywood and simply added a little extra support on each side of the opening for the lid.

I am 6'0 and 230 and no issues at all. Solid as a rock.
